Automobile Inspired Luxury Yachts
There is something common about ultra-expensive automobiles and luxury yachts and speedboats. Sure, both have price tags that only the uber rich can afford, but apart from that they also share a common sense of power, beauty and the sort of attractiveness that appeals to anyone who appreciates cars.
Perhaps this is the reason automobile makers occasionally collaborate with yacht makers and bring out unique automobile themed yachts. Some of these become reality, while others are meant only as a design study. Following are a few such fourwheeler inspired luxury superyachts.
AMG Cigarette 42' Huntress
This white beauty is the result of a collaboration between Mercedes-AMG and the Cigarette Racing Team. The four wheeler behind this piece of engineering is the G63 AMG SUV. The 42 feet long Huntress gets its power from five, six cylinder, supercharged outboard motors, each of which produce 350 HP, taking the total to 1,750 HP. Top speed is 78 mph (126 km/h).
Jaguar Speedboat Concept
No special collaborations here. Jaguar built this concept on its on and this 20 feet long speedboat takes its styling cues from different Jags. There is the carbon fiber tail fin, inspired by Jaguar D-Type and a fuel cap that comes from Series 1 XJ. Jaguar's speedboat was showcased during the launch of XF Sportbrake as a design study.
Audi Trimaran Concept
This yacht was designed by a Pforzheim Technical College design student, Stefanie Behringer and was brought to life with the help of Audi. No particular car inspired design here, but the Trimaran is still a sight to behold. At 49 feet it is pretty long and the two outriggers give it that wide look. Power comes from two 500 HP V12 turbocharged diesel injection engines, which are, interestingly, assisted by two 100 HP electric jet skis. These assist it during docking or getting out into open water. Technically, this makes the Trimaran a hybrid.
Bugatti Superboat Concept
Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Sang Bleu's marine counterpart is a super-yacht concept designed by celebrated automobile designer Ben Walsh. Being a concept Bugatti has and will never be in its element. However, this 30 feet long machine is a sight to behold. This yacht concept is also a piece of art, that mimics the Sang Bleu's polished aluminium and Blue coloured panel design. Simple and elegant.
Porsche Fearless
Price: $350,000.00
Last is the one designed by Porsche and developed by yacht builder Fearless Yachts, this 28 feet long two seater speed boat reaches a top speed of more than 80 mph, powered by Dodge Viper's V10 engine generating a peak power of 550 HP.
