Arnold Schwarzenegger Terminates Giant Pothole In L.A. - Here's The Story In Full
Former California Governor, Hollwood megastar and all-around motoring icon, Arnold Schwarzenegger took to the streets in Los Angeles to fix a large pothole that had been causing problems for motorists and cyclists in the neighbourhood for weeks.
Posting on his Twitter feed last week, the 75-year-old Hollywood megastar and former Governer of the US state of California shared a video of his team and him fixing up a massive rut on the road.
In his tweet, the Predator star and bodybuilder extraordinaire stated, "Today, after the whole neighborhood has been upset about this giant pothole that's been screwing up cars and bicycles for weeks, I went out with my team and fixed it. I always say, let's not complain, let's do something about it. Here you go."
The video accompanying the tweet shows the actor who played Conan the Barbarian putting his muscles to work as he and his team got around to fixing the big hole in the road with a packaged patch of asphalt.
A passing motorist stopped her car to thank the Hollywood superstar as he filled up the depression on the road. However, the city of Los Angeles was quick to deny that the depression was actually a pothole. The actual depression turned out to be the aftermath of a gas pipeline upgrade in the area.
SoCal Gas, the utility in charge of the work at the site stated that the upgrade work had been finished in the area in late January. However, any work to permanently pave the road surface, which usually takes around 30 days after the completion of the project was delayed by the rain in the LA area.
One day after the Governator posted his video, the utility company's crew came and levelled off and strengthened the patch that he had applied to fix the depression in the road.
Schwarzenegger, ever the proponent of getting people to work together posted tweeted this in reply, "Teamwork. Happy to help speed this up, and thanks to the crew for pumping up my fix."
The permanent paving of the road is expected to be completed in the coming days...
