Anand Mahindra Will Not Gift Thar SUV To Pragganandhaa – Will Do This Instead

Industrialist Anand Mahindra is well known for his support and contributions to aiding the development and motivating of creative minds in India. Now, Mahindra has tweeted that he is planning to gift a brand new electric SUV to the parents of Indian Grandmaster R Pragganandhaa.

Recently, Pragganandhaa's victory over Magnus Carlsen (the reigning chess champion), not only received plenty of praise across the nation but the victory also shouted the arrival of a rising star in the world of chess.

Anand Mahindra Will Not Gift Thar SUV To Pragganandhaa

Following this, many people urged Anand Mahindra to gift Pragganandhaa a Mahindra Thar SUV as part of recognising his achievement. However, Anand Mahindra had different plans to recognise the achievement of Pragganandhaa.

In his recent tweet, Anand Mahindra said, "Appreciate your sentiment, Krishlay, & many, like you, have been urging me to gift a Thar to @rpragchess But I have another idea... I would like to encourage parents to introduce their children to Chess & support them as they pursue this cerebral game."

It is also worth mentioning that Mahindra recently gifted a Thar SUV to Nikhat Zareen for winning the 2023 IBA Women's World Boxing Championship. This warm gesture was very well received by the public.

"It's an investment in a better future for our planet, just like EVs. And so, I think we should gift an XUV4OO EV to the PARENTS of @rpragchess, Shrimati Nagalakshmi & Shri Rameshbabu, who deserve our gratitude for nurturing their son's passion & for giving him their untiring support." Mahindra added."

Speaking about the Mahindra XUV400, the electric SUV directly competes against the Tata Nexon EV range. However, unlike the Tata Nexon EV, the Mahindra XUV400 is not a sub-4m SUV.

Coming to the powertrain, the Mahindra XUV400 EV is powered by a 147.5bhp electric motor with 310Nm of peak torque. Battery pack options include a 34.5kWh and a larger 39.4kWh battery pack.

Mahindra claims that the XUV400 can accelerate to 100km/h in just 8.3 seconds and can travel a distance of 456 kilometres on a fully charged battery pack. However, the lower-spec variant with the smaller battery pack can cover just 375 kilometres on a full charge.

In terms of charging, the automaker claims that the XUV400 electric SUV can be fully charged in just 50 minutes using a suitable DC fast charger. However, the same feat using a more conventional 7.2kW AC charger takes a little more than 6 hours.

Prices for the Mahindra XUV400 currently start from Rs 15.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the 'EC' variant. However, the same 'EC' variant equipped with the faster 7.2kW (vs 3.3 kW) charger is priced at Rs 16.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

Thoughts: Anand Mahindra's plan to gift a brand new Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV will be a great motivating factor and encourage many creative minds in the country. Also, we expect such initiatives to be widely encouraged and recognised.
