Ahmedabad Traffic Police Get ‘AC Helmets’ – Everything You Need To Know
Pollution and global warming continue to reduce the quality of life. However, individuals working outdoors bear most of the brunt. That being said, traffic police personnel have to stay in this scorching heat and pollution for long hours.
This long exposure to heat and pollution is sure to have an impact on traffic personnel. As such, the Ahmedabad Traffic Police Department has introduced a new type of helmet to keep their personnel stay cool and breathe fresh air during outdoor duties.
These new helmets are designed to push cool air and also protect the person wearing this helmet from dust and pollution. It is also worth mentioning that these new helmets are powered by a battery pack and can function for approximately 8 hours.
Looking into details, these new helmets are heavier due to the additional cooling equipment and weigh around 500 grams. The cooling equipment integrated into the helmet draws in air from the surroundings and cools it down before blowing it to the face of the user.
On top of that, these helmets also come equipped with filters for filtering out dust. As a result, the user is not only protected from the scorching heat of the sun, but it also protects the user from pollutants in the air.
That being said, these new 'AC helmets' are still under evaluation and the trial phase recently commenced on August 10. So far, these new 'AC helmets' have received positive feedback from all 6 constables participating in the trial.
The development of these new 'AC helmets' is credited to Noida-based, Karam Safety Private Ltd. Also, if the trial proves successful, the Ahmedabad Traffic Police Department is likely to order more such 'AC helmets'.
Thoughts: So far, the 'AC helmets' have been very successful with positive feedback from the constables participating in the trial. If successful, we think Traffic Police Departments across the nation should adopt this tech.
