Dictator’s Son’s Seized Supercars, Sold For $4M

The exploits of the dictatorial ruler of the African nation of Equatorial Guinea are well known. The 71 year old Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and his family is one of the richest in the world thanks to the rich oil deposits found in the country. The family is also allegedly involved in several cases of public fund theft.

The dictator's son Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue was indicted by the French in one such case in 2011 and following a raid several of his possessions were confiscated from his €80 million Paris mansion. Among the confesticated items was a fleet of exocitic cars, some of them worth more than a million dollars.

A total of 11 cars were seized and these included 2 Bugatti Veyrons, one Ferrari Enzo, a Maserati MC12, a Porsche Carrera GT, a Ferrari 599 GTO, two Bentleys, a Rolls Royce, a Maybach and an Aston Martin.

That particular fleet of cars was recently auctioned in Paris by the French authorities through auction house Drouot where they went for a dirt cheap of price of EUR3.1 million (£2.7 million or $4.06 million). This amounts to an average of just $369,100 per car. The cars had been hardly run, with the odometers showing only a few kilometers. That's one heck of a bargain.
