S J Suryah's Gesture Of Kindness: Tractor Donation To Support Farmers
Actor S J Suryah, following Raghava Lawrence's lead, donated a tractor to villagers in Thenambakkam, Kancheepuram. Lawrence, through his Maatram initiative, had previously distributed 10 tractors to poor farmers across the state.
Speaking to the media after the event, Lawrence shared an amusing incident. "My manager asked if I had ordered another tractor because there was one outside the gate. I had only ordered 10 and given them away.
I found S J Suryah standing there with a tractor. S J Suryah sir said, 'I will be busy with shooting but I will somehow manage and come and do what I can.'"
Lawrence highlighted the importance of personal involvement in donations. He said, "The beauty of Maatram is that whoever wants to help others must do it with their own hands. I told S J Suryah that the villagers would be very happy to meet him." Despite his busy schedule, S J Suryah took the time to personally deliver the tractor.
S J Suryah spoke about his relationship with Raghava Lawrence and their work in "Jigarthanda Double X." He said, "Although Raghava Lawrence and I knew each other before, it was while working in Jigarthanda Double X that we became even more close."
He praised Lawrence's compassionate nature, adding, "I have always seen a mother's heart in actor Raghava Lawrence when it comes to helping others."
S J Suryah admitted he is not a big social worker but admired Lawrence's efforts. "Master (Raghava Lawrence) has helped several people over the last 20 years. His idea is not just helping others by himself but also encouraging everybody else to help others."
He mentioned that he initially offered to deposit a sum into Lawrence's account for charitable work. However, Lawrence suggested helping people directly instead.
Lawrence explained the rationale behind Maatram's approach. "The idea is that whoever sees us must help others around them." This philosophy encourages not just charity but active participation in uplifting the community.
