702bhp Manhart CR 700 Last Edition Revealed - A Final V8 Powered Goodbye For the C63 S
German tuning firm Manhart has revealed the CR 700 Last Edition. The Manhart CR 700 is the final hurrah for the outgoing C63 S' twin-turbo V8 which has been tuned to put out 702bhp.
German tuning firm Manhart has revealed the CR 700 Last Edition. The Manhart CR 700 is the final hurrah for the outgoing C63 S' twin-turbo V8 which has been tuned to put out 702bhp.
So how has Manhart managed to extract an extra 199bhp and 220Nm out of AMG's twin-turbo V8 engine? Well, the Wuppertal-based tuning firm has fitted the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine with the Manhart Turbo Performance Kit which includes upgrades for the turbochargers and intercooler.
Manhart has also given the CR 700 Final Edition a new carbon intake along with a new exhaust system. These changes along with an ECU remap have resulted in the output from the M177 twin-turbo engine rising to 702bhp and 920Nm of peak torque.
Manhart has also upgraded the 9-speed automatic gearbox of the C63 S to deal with all the extra horsepower and torque from the updated V8 engine. All these changes have resulted in the CR 700 Final Edition sprinting from 100 to 200km/h in just 5.5 seconds. A 0-100km/h time hasn't been revealed.
The CR 700 Final Edition also features two different exhaust system upgrade options for buyers to choose from if they're not based in Germany (the systems are not certified by the TUV). The first of the two upgrades on offer is the 'Sports' downpipes setup that features 200-cell catalytic converters. The other exhaust upgrade comes in the form of Race downpipes that ditch the catalytic converters altogether, giving owners the full vocal output of the M177 twin-turbo V8 engine.
Other mechanical changes come in the form of H&R height-adjustable coil springs that help lower the modified C63 S even further than normal.
The resultant lowering of the ride height of the CR 700 Final Edition has allowed Manhart to fit the customised sedan with its own Concave One wheels. These custom wheels from Manhart measure 9x20-inch (front) and 10.5x20-inch (rear). The custom rims are shod with 255/30 (front) and 275/30 (rear) tyres.
Manhart hasn't changed anything with regard to the brakes of the C63 S and even the interior remains untouched. However, owners can opt to allow Manhart to customise both the brakes and the interiors of their tuned cars to their own personal spec.
Thoughts About The Manhart CR 700 Final Edition
The Manhart CR 700 Final Edition is a final tribute to the M177 engine that powered the W205 C63 S before it switched over to a four-pot hybrid setup. While Manhart hasn't revealed the price for the upgrade, we feel that diehard fans of the V8-powered C63 S won't mind paying a pretty penny for a more bonkers version of the AMG powerplant.
