Beetle Wrapped In Sweater Wins At Beetle Sunshine Tour
Wrapping cars in matte paint, carbon fiber wraps, livery etc are the accepted forms of dressing up cars. They add a touch of personalization, makes the car look sporty and basically reflect your taste. But owners of VW Beetles are a slightly different lot.
Their tastes differ from the mainstream and hence the car wrap their Beetles get is different as well. We are talking about one particular Beetle which recently won the title of "the most beautiful beach Beetle of the Year" at a Beetle owners gathering - The annual Beetle Sunshine Tour.
The ninth edition of the tour was held recently in Germany on the baltic coast. The annual Beetle convention saw all sorts of Bugs - those with neon wheels, some modified into pick-up trucks and others transformed into race cars. All in all, 414 Beetles took part, in what is the world's largest gathering of the iconic Volkswagen car.
The owners of the winning Beetle were Marthe and Magnus Schwarz from Neustadt/Holstein. What made their convertible unique was the hand knit woolen sweater in which the car came wrapped in.
"It took us seven months and 40 kilograms of wool to create this, it's been so much fun!", says Marthe. "It's been a tough decision to pick only one most beautiful Beetle," says Gaby Kraft, who organizes Beetle Sunshine Tour ever since 2004.
A few of the other notable Beetles that took part in the tour were "glamour Beetle, rock 'n' roll Beetle, wedding Beetle, beach Beetle 007 Beetle and Charleston Beetle"
