How to Take Care of Your Car in the Summer | A Simple Guide
In India, the Summer seems to be hitting a little earlier than usual. We're already in the month of March and we're facing temperatures of over 30 degrees Celsius. Not only us, but our vehicles also need to be given extra care and maintenance. Here, we will be discussing summer car care tips for your vehicle.
Engine Oil
The first thing to look at is the car's engine oil. Make sure the oil is topped up and is clean, without any harmful bits present in it. Running old oil in hot temperatures will most likely cause problems to your engine, such as overheating or even in serious cases, an engine seize.
Along with the engine oil, the oil filter needs to be checked. A faulty oil filter will not segregate the unwanted material effectively and cause the driver to run the car with improper and polluted engine oil.
Coolant
Running sufficient engine coolant is as important as staying hydrated in the summers. The coolant acts as the main catalyst that cools the engine and keeps it running at an optimal temperature. Without enough coolant or a good quality coolant, the engine will start to overheat which may lead to further complications down the road.
Radiator and Fan
Supporting the coolant to keep the engine at the optimum temperature is the radiator and fan. When the engine crosses a certain temperature, a signal is sent from the ECU to the fan for it to turn on. Once it turns on, the fan will continue running until the coolant temperature drops.
Air Filter
The air filter is what allows air to enter the engine. Ensuring a clean and well-maintained air filter is key as this is what makes the engine run without much strain and lets the required amount of air reach the engine.
