Volvo To Launch V40 To Counter BMW X1
Volvo, the Swedish carmaker is expected to set the entry level premium car segment on fire in 2013. Volvo is preparing to launch its new V40 Cross Country crossover in India during the first half of 2013. The V40 is a crossover designed to deliver the performance of an SUV with a thirst of a compact car.
Volvo had unveiled the V40 Cross Country during the 2012 Paris Motor Show. Not only did the V40 impress Volvo fans but also critics and international media. The V40 has already been launched in major international markets and has gained critical acclaim.

The Volvo V40 is expected to be powered by a two litre five cylinder turbo charged diesel engine. One of the most notable features of the engine will be the stop/start technology which will help improve mileage. The engine is expected to be paired with either a five speed manual or a six speed automatic transmission.
Volvo Auto India is yet to decide on the most important factor about the V40 Cross Country crossover- the price. But industry insiders say the V40 should be priced well within the range of the BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz B-Class, the Volvo's closest competitors. So we can peg the Volvo V40's price at around INR 27 lakhs. Do not be surprised if Volvo launches the V40 with a slightly lower introductory price tag.
