Suzuki S-Cross Launch Details, Specs, Price & More

Suzuki will be launching the new S-Cross in Australia on January 1, 2014. The car will be on sale for an attractive $23,990 (INR 13.2 lakhs). However, the Big Question is when would India receive the S-Cross compact SUV?

The S-Cross is 4.3 metre long, it is significantly lower and wider than the existing, SX4. After having larger dimensions, the new car is 100kg lighter, delivering better fuel efficiency and driving dynamics.

A 1.6 litre, four-cylinder petrol engine is the heart of the S-Cross. The car will sport different variants with the same engine. However, option will be in the form of a five-speed manual and CVT option, plus a choice of front or all-wheel drive.

Suzuki's S-Cross first surfaced as a concept at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. The car aims to offer great refinement, superior interior space and great on fuel efficiency.

The Japanese auto giant will offer 16 inch alloy wheels, cruise control, roof rails, tilt & reach adjustable steering.

S-Cross will feature bluetooth connectivity with audio streaming, a four speaker audio system and steering mounted audio controls for entertainment.

The compact SUV has received a five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP. It features electronic stability control, seven air-bags and many more active and passive safety systems.

Suzuki S-Cross will rival Subaru XV and Nissan Dualis, in global markets. The SX4 S-Cross will arrive in Australian showrooms on January 1, 2014. An India unveil may not be too far away.

If Maruti Suzuki eventually decides to roll out the S-Cross in India, it will be a mountainous task. Let's not forget Nissan Terrano, Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport, Skoda Yeti and Mahindra Xylo are well-rooted in this segment.
