Land Rover Range Rover Sport RS, A Sportier SUV Under Development
Land Rover is developing a sportier version of the Range Rover Sport that is undergoing testing at present. The SUV is likely to be called Range Rover Sport RS or SS, but that's not confirmed.
The sportier version of the Range Rover Sport will be powered by a retuned 5.0 liter supercharged engine. This is the same engine that's found in the top end variant of the Range Rover Sport and also in the Jaguar XKR-S. While the regular Range Rover Sport gets 510 bhp the RS version would have 542 bhp.

More significant than the engine power bump would be other performance oriented mechanical changes. The RS would have larger brakes, a sleeker, more aerodynamic body, and stiffer suspensions for a sportier and more stable ride at high speeds and cornering. On top of it, the RS version would also receive engine management software tweaks.
While the standard Range Rover Sport can do a best 0-96 km/h time of 5 seconds, Land Rover is expected to try to squeeze in a time of 4.5 seconds with the RS.
Visual changes would come in the form of larger air intakes, new bumpers, a larger rear spoiler and quad exhaust.
On the flipside, a sportier Ranger Rover Sport with stiffer suspensions would not be as capable off-road as a regular version.
Range Rover Sport RS is expected to arrive in international markets towards the end of this year or early in 2015.
