Skoda Yeti Xtreme Heads To Worthersee
As Volkswagen's annual Worthersee event in Austria nears, the Group's brands have started revealing their concept cars that are headed for the event. This one is from Czech automaker Skoda, called Yeti Xtreme.
As the name explains, this is an extreme version of the Yeti crossover. Inspired by rally cars, the Yeti Xtreme sports a rugged look, with a chunky design and eye catching matte grey exterior with yellow accents.
The rally-car inspiration goes further than the design, to include equipments and features as well.
Sitting underneath the bonnet is a 1.8-litre TSI engine rated at 150 bhp and 250 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission.
As far as performance is concerned, the Yeti Xtreme can reach 100 km/h in 9.0sec and can achieve a top speed of 191 km/h.
The Skoda Yeti Xtreme sits on 17-inch wheels shod in off-road tyres. The wheels are fitted with brakes from the Octavia vRS.
Apart from the chunky tyres, housed within flared wheel arches, the exterior of the car is defined by thick skid plate at the front, side skirts, rear bumper with integrated dual exhausts, dark tinted windows, LED lights and larger air intakes. Furthermore, the ride height can also be adjusted.
Since the Yeti Xtreme is supposed to mimic a rally car, it is equipped with almost all the features found in an actual rally car and more.
To start with, the boot holds off-road equipments such as special traction mats and 'recovery tracks'.
Unlike a rally car thought, the Yeti Xtreme comes with Recaro sports seats, complete with safety harnesses, belt cutter, first-aid kit and fire extinguisher. Additionally, there's also an iPad dock.
The centre console has been revised, while the steering wheel is sportier and is equipped with paddle shifters. You'll also find carbon fiber, Alcantara and leather trim, as well as aluminium inserts. Race car pedals and door sill plates complete the package.
Skoda says the Yeti Xtreme is a design study that has been developed to showcase the off-road ability of the compact SUV.
