Renault Duster: Over 1,00,000 Units Sold In Under 2 Years
Renault Duster, one of the more popular SUV models in India, has allowed the French company to gain a foothold in India, which had earlier proved difficult for the automaker.
Launched in July 2012, the Duster went on to become the highest selling SUV in the country and stayed in that position for quite sometime.
While eventually local favourites like the Bolero and Scorpio from Mahindra took back their position, it was not before the Duster had sold in good numbers and it continues to do so.

As per a statement by Sumit Sawhney, Renault India CEO and Managing Director, the company has sold over 1 lakh Duster compact SUVs in little less than 2 years since launch, which is definitely a good number for any car that's not a hatchback from Maruti Suzuki or Hyundai.
Recently, Renault introduced the Duster Adventure Edition with the 85 PS engine, making it more affordable, at INR 9.16 lakh. The Adventure Edition was previously available only with the 110 PS engine, priced at INR 12.18 lakh.
Renault has also confirmed that it will launch the Duster 4x4 in India later this year. The Renault manufacturing facility in India, located in tamil Nadu, already produces 4x4 versions of the Duster for U.K and also for Indonesia soon.
However, the all-wheel drive system for the Duster is imported into India from Romania. It remains to seen if production of this system will be localised in the coming months.
