Nissan To Introduce Cheaper Model Of Datsun By 2016 In India
Japanese automobile giant, Nissan has introduced its affordable brand Datsun in India. Under the Datsun brand name they have introduced two vehicles Go and Go Plus models.
Now Nissan is planning of introducing another model that will be priced lower than current Datsun vehicles. This will be a small car that will compete against the high-sellers in India.
The small car segment is currently dominated by Nissan compatriot Suzuki in India. Maruti Suzuki's Alto and Hyundai Eon are currently leaders of small car segment. Their four-wheelers have been priced competitively.
This new affordable vehicle by Nissan will be slotted below Datsun Go hatchback. It will be developed on Renault-Nissan's common platform. The vehicle will draw inspiration from Datsun's concept vehicle Redi-Go.
The new affordable vehicle is being called as I2 and will be designed and manufactured in India. Nissan's small car will receive several locally manufactured components to keep costs low.
Nissan's affordable small car will be priced lower than the Go and will have even less features. Safety and quality of materials used in the vehicle will not be compromised in cost cutting procedures.
