Mercedes-Benz GLA Class Crossover Images Leaked
Mercedes Benz began teasing us with sketches of the upcoming GLA Class crossover earlier this week on its Facebook page. But you no longer have to be frustrated by teasers as the first proper images of the GLA Class has been leaked on the internet.
The detailed images reveal not just the exterior but also provide us with the first look at the interior. Looking at the images now makes it clear as to which category the GLA Class will fit into. Check out the images in the gallery below.
As you can notice the GLA Class resembles the A Class and B Class in several every aspects. Right from the grille to the front air dam, the empty lamp housing and the profile in general.
The reason behind this is the use of the same Mercedes Benz Modular Front Architecture (MFA), the front/all-wheel drive platform as the hatchbacks.
The same can be said about the interior. However, as we can see, the GLA Class interior could come dressed in different sort of materials, presumably richer, more premium ones, considering the crossover will cost more.
The GLA Class, with its roof rails, skid plates, side running boards, beefier rear bumper with integrated exhaust and higher ground clearance, can then be described as an off-road version of the A Class.
As for the powerplant and transmission, it will most likely share it with the A Class as well, likely the A180 Sport. Mercedes 4MATIC all-wheel drive system will be on offer for sure, but it could get restricted to the top end trim.
As for the placement, the GLA Class falls into the same category as the Volvo V40 Cross Country. Going by the pricing point of view, it will also have BMW X1 and Audi Q3 as its rivals.
The GLA Class will thus be priced around the INR 30 lakhs mark. Merc's new crossover will arrive in showrooms in 2014. First public outing is likely going to be at Frankfurt Auto Show.
