Hybrid powerplant
The P1 hypercar will use a mid-mounted 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine that will generate 916 PS (903 BHP) and a peak torque of 900 Nm (664 lb-ft).

Petrol engine
The petrol engine is an upgraded form of the M838T unit found in the MP4-12C, that will produce 727 BHP of power and 720 Nm of torque

Electric motor
The car uses a specially developed electric motor that will generate 176 BHP and a peak torque of 260 Nm.

IPAS
The P1 employs an "Instant Power Assist System" which can deliver all of the electric motor's 176 BHP instantly.

Transmission
Delivering the power to the rear wheels will be a dual-clutch seven-speed gearbox for seamless power transmission.

E-Mode
Being a hybrid vehicle, the P1 will have the ability to use both the engine and the electric motor or, in E-Mode, just its electric motor.

Emissions
During E-Mode the P1 can travel up to 10km using just electric power, with zero emission. Even while using both power sources the car will emit less than 200g/km of CO2.

DRS
McLaren has equipped the P1 with the Drag Reduction System from Formula 1. The rear of the car features a movable flap that provides downforce, but when DRS is activated the wing goes down, reducing drag.

Battery
The electric motor is powered by a high power density, high power cells, low pack weight battery that weighs just 96kg. The IPAS feature is made possible due to the advanced battery system.
