Maserati Ghibli Officially Revealed
Maserati has released official images of its first mass market product, the Ghibli sports executive sedan. The performance sedan is scheduled to make its debut at the upcoming Shanghai Motor Show.
The Ghibli is a significant product for Maserati in the sense that it is the first product the Italian boutique car maker is launching in this segment. The Ghibli's role will be take on cars such as Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 5 Series and the automaker hopes to sell 50,000 cars by the end of the year.
The Ghibli wears a sportier exterior than the larger Quattroporte and will match it in terms of luxury. Maserati has confirmed the car will make use of a 3.0 liter twin turbocharged V6 engine mated to eight speed automatic transmission. Rear wheel drive will be standard and the "Q4" all wheel drive system will provided as an option. While both petrol and diesel engines will be provided, it will be Maserati's first ever production diesel car.
