Maruti Suzuki Celerio CNG Launched; Price INR 4.68 Lakh
Just about three months after the launch of the Celerio, Maruti Suzuki has introduced the CNG version of the new hatchback. Maruti Celerio Green, as the CNG version is called, is only available in the VXi trim.
Factory-fitted with a CNG kit, the Celerio Green is powered by a the 1.0-litre KNext petrol engine with 68 horsepower. In CNG mode power drops to 58 horsepower, however.
The Celerio Green comes with Maruti's patented iGPI system that's also found in the Maruti WagonR and Ertiga. The system is responsible in controlling CNG fuel delivery to the engine, which is in dual mode, supplies the gas directly into the combustion chamber.
During combined operation, Maruti Celerio Green will deliver a claimed fuel economy figure of 31.79 km/kg. In comparison, the Celerio Petrol only delivers 23.1 kpl.
It should, however, be noted that the CNG variant of the Celerio is not available with AMT and only comes with the 5-speed manual transmission.
The Celerio CNG's driving dynamics will be slightly vary due to the added weight of the CNG cylinder, to counter which Maruti has altered the suspension settings.
Maruti Celerio Green is priced at INR 4.68 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi) and INR 4.92 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
