Not a lot is known about the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz currently. But we do know that it began life as the Suzuki AuthenticS concept in China. This hints towards the Ciaz being a global model, unlike the car it will replace.

One look at the Ciaz concept and it was clear that car will look nothing like the SX4. If the concept was any indication, the production Ciaz will be very sporty, with a flowing design and featuring modern elements such as LED lights.

The welcome changes is also expected to appear on the inside, with a top notch quality interior, with superior fit and finish unlike anything we have seen from Maruti Suzuki till date in India.

Maruti Ciaz is expected to offer equipments and features such as auto climate control, sat nav, rear air con, high end infotainment system among others. Maruti will have popular sedans from the segment Honda City, Hyundai Verna & VW Vento in its sights.

We do not yet know what engine options Maruti has planned for the Ciaz, but apart from the 1.4 liter K-Series petrol and the 1.3 liter fiat Multijet turbo diesel the automaker is also expected to introduce a new Suzuki developed engine in the Ciaz.

Overdrive also reports that the Ciaz will be provided with the new AMT automatic transmission. If this is indeed introduced it would provide a dramatic edge for Maruti in terms of pricing over rival automatic cars in the category. More details are expected to emerge in the coming months.
