Lamborghini 5-95 Zagato At 2014 Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este
Italian coach building and design house Zagato's latest high profile creation is a one-off Lamborghini 5-95 that's based on the Gallardo.
Commissioned by one of the most prominent Lamborghini collectors Albert Spiess, the Zagato Lamborghini 5-95 was on display during last weekend's Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este at Lake Como on the Italy-Switzerland border.
The Lamborghini 5-95 also marked Zagato's 95th anniversary which happens to be this year.

Modified by Zagato on the principles of "functionalism and rationalism," the Lamborghini 5-95 gets a large gaping air intake at the front, which makes it resemble an earlier Spyker also built by Zagato.

The pillars are painted black to give the roof a floating appearance. The roof holds a functional air scoop as well. And of course, the trademark Zagato double bubble roof is present.

The 562 horsepower, 5.2-litre, V10 engine continues to run unmodified and now sits behind a new grille cover.

"I always appreciated the ability of Zagato to create timeless lines with a forceful visual impact," Albert Spiess said. "I believe that a sensual design inspired by nature, together with the best technology, strike a perfect balance that is possible to achieve only in Italy-the 5-95 will be a fundamental piece of my collection."

Speaking about why the Gallardo was chosen for the project, Andrea Zagato said:
"We have chosen the Gallardo because it is the most sensational project in Lamborghini's history. An extraordinary car, perfect in engineering terms, that has brought the image of ‘the Bull' from a ‘cottage industry' to a worldwide major industrial reality. The Gallardo production figures exceeded the whole Lamborghini production since its foundation."
