Jeep India Launch In 2015; Wrangler & Grand Cherokee Models Confirmed
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), during its recently held global investors meet, explained its worldwide strategy for the next five years which also includes some interesting plans for India.
Fiat India in 2014
The new launches happening this year, of which we have all been aware for quite a while, are of the Punto based crossover, the Avventura and the Abarth 500 hot hatch. New launches aside, the Grande Punto will also receive a mid-life refresh.
Fiat India in 2015
Come 2015 thought, off-road enthusiasts in India will get the first taste of Jeep models, the Wrangler and the Grand Cherokee.
The much delayed launch of the Jeep brand will finally take place next year with the Grand Cherokee that will be locally assembled and the Wrangler, which will be imported.
Next year will also see Fiat bring the Punto Abarth performance model. The best part about the Abarth Punto will be that it will be locally assembled.
Fiat India in 2016
The third Jeep model will be a C-segment SUV that will globally replace the Patriot and Compass models.
Fiat India in 2017
This year will see the introduction of brand new Wrangler and Grand Cherokee models, but the Wrangler will continue to be imported. Also, the next-gen Punto will be launched this year as well.
A significant launch will also take place in 2017. That of the Grand Siena.
Fiat India in 2018
Lastly, the Abarth version of the 2017 Punto will be launched this year.
What India has missed out on is the new Renegade compact SUV, which is truly unfortunate. Also, while globally the Punto will be replaced by the 500X, it will continued to be offered here with facelifts and updates.
