Swiss Millionaire To Sell James Bond Aston Martin
James Bond's legendary Aston Martin, complete with Bond gizmos is up for grabs at a mind boggling $US4.5 million. Swiss Millionaire Thomas Straumann has put up this legendary Aston Martin DB5 up for sale. The Aston Martin DB5 up for sale, is the original Bond car which was driven by Sean Connery as the fictional British spy in Goldfinger (1964) and Thunderball (1965).
Straumann had bought the original James Bond Aston Martin DB5 in 2006 for a whopping $US2.7 million and it is believed that close to 3000 hours of work was put into this Aston Martin's overhaul.
The legendary JB007 Aston Martin DB5 features special gizmos like, machine guns hidden behind retractable headlights, a smoke screen and a bullet-proof shield. James Bond and Aston Martin has had a long lasting relationship.
The Aston Martin DB5 was first featured in Goldfinger the third film in the James Bond series which was released in 1964. The production car however had no special gadgets and was produced by Aston Martin from 1963 - 1965.

The JB007 Aston Martin DB5 was specially modified for Goldfinger.
Some of the notable exterior features came in the form of a working ejector seat, machine guns, tyre slashers, over-riders, tyre-slashers, bullet-proof shield and a tracking device.

Nowadays we are sure James Bond does not require these kind of features, as most action heroes can evade bullets now!

Get-out of the way, if not Bond's Aston Martin could do just that. The DB5 was fitted with specially modified over-riders that could become rams to shift any unwanted objects out of the way!

Here is a close-up view of the rear over-riders. If you look closely, you will also witness the dropping light assembly which was modified to release tyre stingers that incapacitated a pursuer.

Who ever said that Bond cannot fly? Sean Connery was one such Bond who could transform into Superman whenever he felt like. Jokes apart, the Bond car featured a specially modified ejector seat.
The ejector seat is activated by pushing down on the gear stick. The roof panel should be removed to prevent damage.

The real Bond car featured a pair of machine guns sliding out from the indicator lights.
Its clearly evident that James Bond is no superhero but a clear cut gadget hero.

Another classic feature is the retro style radio aerial which can be pulled out to its full height.

Bond's Aston Martin was powered by an inline 6 cylinder 3,995cc engine. Bond's car could manage a top-speed of 230km/h and could accelerate 0 - 100 km/h in 8 seconds.

WEAPONS CONSOLE - A Bond movie without weapons is not happening. All James Bond had to do was lift the armrest between the front seats and activate the controls for all the DB5's extra features.

Our favourite feature comes in the form of the Gearstick - All James Bond had to do was Flip the top of the gearstick to access the hidden button for the ejector seat.
