Name
As is evident from the name, the Xcent is here to fill the empty space left in by the old Accent sedan that was discontinued in 2013. The Xcent is the sedan version of the Grand i10 and hence they both look almost identical when looking at from the front.

Dimension
The Xcent measures 3995mm in length against the 3765mm length of the Grand i10, the added boot accounting for the extra length. The wheelbase of 2425mm on the other hand is the same. Despite this the Xcent offers slightly more legroom for rear passengers than the Grand i10.

Boot space
An important factor when purchasing compact sedan, the Xcent manages to stump the Amaze in this regard to become the best in segment. The Xcent offers 407 liters of boot space against 400 liters provided by the Amaze.

More powerful diesel engine
The 1.1-litre U2 CRDi turbo diesel generating 72 HP at 4000 rpm and 180.4 Nm torque between 1750 rpm and 2500 rpm is the same as the Grand i10, though there's an improvement in power and torque, with 20 additional Newton meters of the latter.
Hyundai also says it has worked on the turbo diesel for improved throttle response and acceleration. The petrol engine is once again the same 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine which delivers 83 PS of power and 111.8 Nm torque from the Grand i10.

Transmission
Five speed manual is standard and 4 speed automatic gearbox is available as optional with S & SX trims.

Mileage
A mileage of 24.4 kmpl for the diesel, 19.1 kmpl for the petrol and 16.9 kmpl for the automatic are the ARAI certified numbers. That's better than the mileage offered by the Amaze, except for the diesel variant.

Safety
ABS is not offered as standard feature on any variant though it can added on the mid S trim, top SX trim and even the automatic variant. Driver and passenger side airbags are not offered, even as optional, for the base and S trim levels.

Exterior
The Xcent and Grand i10 are exactly the same (apart from the added boot of course), except for a few minor details. The top portion of the grille on the Xcent gets a thin chrome strip that's not found in the Grand. Towards the rear, the wrap around taillamps are shaped differently in the sedan and hatchback. Missing on the Xcent are the sporty black roof mouldings from the Grand i10.

Interior
Once again, the cabin has been picked as it is from the Grand i10, with steering-mounted audio controls, an audio system with Aux, USB, Bluetooth and 1GB internal storage are features available as standard on the S and SX variants. However the top end SX variant gets the following additions - rear seat arm-rest, automatic climate control, rear AC vents and a rear-view camera. Another first in the segment is the dual tone beige and black interiors. Cooled glove box is standard on S & SX trims.

If you have been waiting to buy the Xcent from the time it was revealed we suggest you book one before the waiting period gets extended and the introductory price is withdrawn. Also, you the following colours to choose from - five colour options such as black, blue, red, silver and blue.
