The hero car from the video game based Need For Speed movie, a modified 2013 Ford Mustang GT, driven by Aaron Paul, went under the hammer at the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach auction earlier this month.

The Ford Mustang GT went for $300,000 (€217,045/INR 1.83 crore) during the final bidding, which was paid for by Dave Flynn of Columbiana, Ohio. What makes this buy even more important for Dave Flynn is the fact that the Mustang brand has turned 50 this year.

Under the hood is a Ford Racing derived, supercharged 5.8-litre V8 engine that produces a claimed 900 horsepower in the movie. Though, in reality, that figure is said to be more in the region of 600 horsepower.

The proceeds from the auction will donated to Henry Ford Health System, which was founded by Henry Ford in 1915 and works towards providing essential health care services for more people.
