Ford India Hikes Prices Of Fiesta Sedan For 2015

By Ajinkya

American automobile giant, Ford has an impressive line up of vehicles on offer in India. All manufacturers benefitted from the excise duty benefit during 2014. They were expecting that it would continue going into 2015, however, the Government of India has decided not to continue with the offer.

Now automobile manufacturers are calculating the difference in cost of vehicles and are increasing the prices. Ford India too has silently increased the prices of its Fiesta sedan. This is due to excise benefit not continuing for 2015.

Last year the American manufacturers sedan was priced between INR 7,69,000 to INR 9,29,000 ex-showroom, Delhi. The new prices for 2015 Ford Fiesta are as Follows:

  • Ford Fiesta Ambiente is priced at INR 8,50,400 ex-showroom, Delhi
  • Ford Fiesta Trend is priced at INR 9,39,600 ex-showroom, Delhi
  • Ford Fiesta Titanium is priced at INR 10,18,600 ex-showroom, Delhi

Ford India offers its Fiesta sedan only with a single diesel engine. They do not offer a petrol model, so far like its competitors. Under the bonnet is a 1.5-litre diesel mill, which churns out 91 bhp, along with 204 Nm of peak torque. This engine is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission, no automatic on offer.

The American manufacturer offers its Fiesta with several safety features as standard. It will sport airbags, ABS with EBD, engine immobiliser, door reinforcements, crumple zones, energy absorbing bumpers and many more as standard equipment.

The Fiesta competes with Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Hyundai Verna. All these manufacturers have also increased the prices of their vehicles. Sales of Ford's sedan is not very high and the increase in price may not favour the manufacturer well against its competitors.
