Chevrolet Sail Sedan Launched At 4.99 Lakhs
General Motors has finally launched a car that can pose some serious challenges to India' best selling sedan, the Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire. The new Chevrolet Sail sedan has been launched in India with a mouth watering starting price of INR 4.99 lakhs. The Chevrolet Sail is also available in Diesel priced between INR 6.29 lakhs and 7.51 lakhs (all prices ex-showroom Delhi).
The Chevrolet Sail sedan is an extended version of the Sail UVA hatchback. Chevrolet has not made many changes to the design apart from the extended boot. The Sail sedan has ample space in the cabin and boasts of a large 370 litre boot. The front design is exactly the same as the Sail UVA and there are no changes in the interior.
The width and wheelbase of the Sail sedan is same as the smaller Uva and hence there is no visible difference in terms of space. The only value addition is the large boot.
The Sail sedan, according to Chevrolet, is equipped with a five speed manual gearbox that has been specially tuned for India road conditions. The suspension of the Sail sedan has been modified to deliver sharp driving dynamics along with ride comfort.
The Chevrolet Sail's 1.2-litre petrol engine will generate 86PS of power at 8600rpm while the peak torque figure of 113Nm is reached at 4400rpm. The Chevrolet Sail diesel is powered by the familiar 1.3-litre multi-jet engine that is tuned to generate 78PS of power and 4000rpm and 205Nm of torque at 1750rpm.
The new Chevrolet Sail sedan will be competing against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire, Toyota Etios, Ford Classic, Mahindra Verito and the Tata Indigo eCS.
