Brabus To Bring 800HP Mercedes SL65 AMG To Geneva
The Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG is already an extreme machine, which is evident from the "AMG" in the name. A regular SL65 AMG is an immensely powerful car that delivers 621 horses and 738 foot pound of peak torque through its 6.0 liter V12 engine, but there is no such thing as enough power. The more the better.
When it comes to tuning a Mercedes-Benz who could be better suited than the German tuning house Brabus, whose specialize in tweaking Mercs. The guys from Brabus have announced a specially tuned 800 Roadster based on the SL65 AMG for the show in Geneva.

Engine
Brabus takes the already powerful turbo V12 in the SL65 AMG and adds the usual magic in the form of high performance engine mapping and aero add ons.

Power
The tuned engine in the Brabus 800 Roadster now churns out 588 kW or 800 HP of power at 5,500 rpm and an absolutely crazy torque figure of 1,420 Nm or 1,047 lb-ft.

Torque
The torque produced by the engine is so great that it could end up harming the transmission system, which has necessitated Brabus to electronically limit the peak torque to 1,100 Nm or 811 lb-ft. This power is available right from 2,100 rpm.

Performance
All that torque and power means the 800 Roadster can do an impressive 0 to 100km/h (60 mph) sprint in just 3.7 seconds, while 200 km/h (124 mph) is reached in 9.8 seconds. Top speed of the car is electronically restricted to 350 km/h (217 mph)

Performance add-ons
Additionally performance enhancing upgrades include four water to air intercoolers, which is aerated through the carbon fiber hood scoop. The Roadster also features a special stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system, with free-flow metal catalysts and ceramic-coated tailpipes.

Wheels
The wheels on the roadster are bespoke 20 inch variant Monoblock R "Platinum Edition" forged twin-ten spoke units, which are covered in 255/30 ZR 20 tires on the front and 305/25 ZR 20 tires on the rear.

The Brabus 800 Roadster provides buyers with a bespoke interior, along with all the aero package that fits the outside of the car. More details about the 800 Roadster will emerge at Geneva Motor Show.
