Audi S1 Hot Hatch Unveiled At Geneva Motor Show 2014
Previewed initially through images last month, the new flagship Audi A1 model, the S1 has made its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show 2014.
Available in two door and four door variants (S1 & S1 Sportback), the Audi S1 is a sporty looking hot hatch characterized by design features such as a large air intake grille, xenon headlamps, LED taillights, quad exhaust and roof mounted split spoiler.
The interior is similarly sporty looking, with contrasting stitching and accents, brushed stainless steel foot pedals and sport seats.
The serious stuff is what's underneath the sporty exterior. The engine powering the Audi S1 is a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine capable of generating 228 HP and 370 Nm of torque.
A six speed manual transmission delivers power to all four wheels via Audi's Quattro all-wheel drive system. 0-100 km/h is dispatched in 5.8 seconds, while the top speed is 250 km/h. In fact, Audi S1 is the fastest car in the A1 model line.
It's not just all about power either. The S1 is equipped with a four independent suspension and electronic differential lock, with wheel selective torque, which is a part of the Electronic Stabilization Control. Large disc brakes - 310 mm at the front - with red calipers (with S1 logo) control 17 inch wheels (18 inch optional). All these combined, deliver an extremely agile, precise and stable handling.
Audi S1 comes only in two colours - Vegas Yellow & Sepang Blue - and is priced at £24,900 & £25,630 for the two door and four door variants respectively in the UK.
