Audi R8 e-tron Production Confirmed Post Range Increase
Audi R8 e-tron is back in the news and this time its makers say the all-electric performance car will become a reality. Audi for over the past year or more has been fiddling with the idea of whether or not to bring the electric version of the R8 into production.
Last year Audi scrapped the project saying it was not satisfied with the range the batteries provided and said it would consider resurrecting the R8 e-tron once battery technology had developed sufficiently.
Earlier this week Audi announced during a media conference that it had managed to more than double the R8 e-tron's previous range of 220 km to 450 km.

It was also revealed that roadworthy R8 e-tron EVs would finally see daylight. However, production will be limited; very limited in fact, likely to just a couple of hundred units and these will be built upon request.
Though the exact launch date or the price has not been announced the electric R8 is likely to become a production reality later this year.

Audi R8 e-tron is powered by two electric motors which are capable of generating a combined power output of 376 HP and 680 Nm of torque. Despite weighing a hefty near 2000 kg the R8 e-tron is said to be capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds and on to an electronically limited top speed of 200 km/h.
The best part about the Audi R8 e-tron is that the battery technology used in it will be transferred to other mainstream Audi cars in the future.
