Lamborghini Goes Turbocharged - Urus SUV To Get 4.0-litre Twin-Turbo V8
Lamborghini's Urus will be powered by the first ever turbocharged V8 engine fitted in a raging bull car when it goes on sale in 2018.
In an interview with Autocar UK, Lamborghini boss Stephan Winkelmann confirmed that the Italian supercar brand would put a 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 under the hood of their upcoming SUV, something the Lambo boss described as a major step for his company. Lamborghini R&D chief Maurizio Reggiani stated that the engine would be a Lamborghini exclusive motor.
Winkelmann who has already been in a prototype, stated that he was astonished by the engine claiming that "it was more than any of us expected, which is a car that is very powerful but easy to drive, with very good handling, and also in terms of driveability and comfort, it has a limousine feel in an SUV. This is very important to us."
Winkelmann also stated that a plug-in hybrid version of the SUV is still a possibility and that the SUV would spawn a few special edition versions including a SV (Superveloce) model.
