Engine and transmission
Twin turbocharged 3.8 liter flat six engine with direct fuel injection
Transmission: PDK seven speed dual clutch gearbox

Performance: 513 HP engine propels the car to 100 km/h from a standstill in 3.2 seconds when fitted with the optional Sport Chrono Package Plus

2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S
Performance: The additional boost from the turbo generates 552 HP in the Turbo S model, improving its 0-100 km/h time to 3.1 seconds.

Top speed for both models is limited to 317 km/h

Despite the improved performance Porsche claims the new and improved engine delivers a combined fuel economy of 29.1 mpg.

Active rear wheel steering
The new Porsche 911 Turbo has an all wheel drive system. A special feature about the new powertrain is the active rear wheel steering.

Porsche explains: "At speeds up to 31 mph, the system steers the rear wheels in the opposite direction (counter) to the front wheels. Leading to a virtual shortening of the wheelbase. This makes the turning circle smaller, the steering behaviour in bends much more dynamic and tangibly facilitates manoeuvring."

Similarly, "At speeds over 49 mph, the system steers the rear wheels in the same direction as that of the front wheels. This results in a virtual wheelbase extension and enhanced driving stability, for example during fast lane changes on the motorway. Between 31 mph and 49 mph, the system continually switches between counter steering and harmonised steering."

Porsche Active Aerodynamics system (PAA)
For the first time Porsche has employed an active aerodynamic system such as the ones seen in other more expensive hypercars. The system features active rear and front spoilers.

The spoilers (both rear and front) deploy in three stages. At low speeds they are completely retracted. At speeds over 120 km/h the spoilers extend partially to offer stability. The spoilers are fully deployed at the press of a button, at which the car gains supreme control and stability at high speeds, due to the added downforce.

The new Porsche 911 Turbo features Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS+), along with 60 LED.
