Nissan Micra Facelift Brings Extensive Changes
The new generation Nissan Micra for the European market has been revealed. The same is expected to debut in India later this year or early next year. 2014 model year Nissan Micra is more than just a facelift and brings in several extensive changes and additional features, including drivetrain updates. It should be kept in mind, however, that availability of features differ with variants. Starting with the hardware under the hood, the 1.2 liter petrol and the 1.5 liter diesel engines will be retained. However, Indian buyers will be provided with the CVT automatic transmission with the petrol engine for the first time. A supercharger and Start/Stop function makes the new European Micra a lot more cleaner. But do not expect Start/Stop functionality and the supercharged engine in India.
Changes that Indian buyers will really look forward to will be the extensive facelift. The Nissan badge is now placed between a prominent chrome ‘V' design. In fact, the bonnet, wings, headlamps and front bumper are all new. So are the fog lamps, which are now surrounded by chrome and LED lamps now feature in the tail light. Redesigned 15 and 16 inch alloy wheels are now available as well. The top end variant will even come with optional panaromic roof, but this is unlikely to be offered in the Indian spec variant.
Two new colour options - pearl metallic Pacific Blue and metallic Platinum Sage - will join the existing colour options.
The new interior of the European spec Micra will look and feel premium, with the use of high quality fabric and textured plastic. Not all of these changes can be expected to arrive in India. What Indian buyers will get includes a redesigned center console, an upgraded infotainment system (Sat nav features including strong Google maps integration etc., might go missing in India). Other changes are, a new audio system, new seats and silver and black dual tone interior.
