India To Get Volvo V40 Cross Country in 2013

Volvo will lintroduce the cross over hatch V40 Cross Country in India by March 2013.

The entry level cross over hatch from Volvo will be slated against BMW's X1 and Audi Q3.

The new V40 Cross Country is built on the heritage that started with the V70 Cross Country back in 1997.

The V40 Cross Country combines class-leading driving dynamics, interior comfort and a rugged personality with low emissions, impressive fuel economy and pioneering safety technology.

The V40 Cross Country can also be specified with a stylish TFT digital instrument cluster, which allows the driver to select one of three modes - Elegance, Performance or Eco - depending on what information they prefer to see while driving.

The Volvo V40 Cross Country will be the entry level product for India. Volvo will looking to take the competition to BMW and Audi. Let's not forget BMW dominates this section with their X1 and Audi with their Q3. Volvo hopes to provide stiff competition with the V40 Cross Country in the entry level luxury crossover segment.

If that was really to happen, then we are looking at a price range of INR 22 to 26 lakhs. This five door crossover hatch from Volvo will initially enter India via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route.

Some of the features of the V40 Cross Country, that really caught our attention are the new upright day-running lights and honeycomb mesh grille. Does the V40 Cross country styling impress you?

Drivespark believes for India, the V40 Cross Country will come with a 2.0-litre D3 diesel engine capable of churning out 150 horsepower. We also expect a six speed automatic transmission to be offered.

Drivespark Thinks! By Volvo bringing in the V40 Cross Country, the entry level luxury crossover segment gets more interesting. If Volvo can price it between INR 20 to 25 lakhs it will surely get BMW and Audi noticing!
