Volkswagen Considering Utility Vehicles

Volkswagen is looking one stride at a time in India. With that said, President and MD Gerry Dorizas said, "Different growth segments of multi-purpose vehicles or sports utility vehicles and small cars are the part of vision we have for India.
The company has a quite a few details to look into, before entering the utility vehicle segment. Volkswagen is currently looking at establishing the fundamental structure in place.
Volkswagen is taking notice, of how rivals Renault and Maruti Suzuki have managed to enter these segments and capture sizeable market share.
From our understanding, its time for Volkswagen to be present in the utility segment. Primarily cause this segment is growing at a rapid pace, when compared to the other segments.
On the other hand Drivespark feels, Volkswagen needs to expand their dealerships and strengthen their sales and after sales service. We are not stating, Volkswagen's dealership, sales and after sales is not up to the mark, however if the German manufacturer would like to capture the utility vehicle segment, surely then they will have to dwell into the finer details, of their dealership network, sales and after sales.
What can we expect?
If Volkswagen was eventually to enter the utility segment, then we expect the SUV Tiguan to make its inroads into India. Volkswagen has developed utility concepts called, Volkswagen space up! Concept" and "Bulli Concept which is likely to lock horns with Maruti Ertiga, Renault Duster and the upcoming Ford Ecosport. What are your thoughts?
