Toyota Kirloskar will be launching limited edition models of its best selling cars in India in an effort to boost its sales during the festive season. The Japanese carmaker has already launched a limited edition variant of its best selling MPV Innova in the form of the Innova Aero.

Toyota did not have a great September in terms of sales after reporting a 5.4% drop in year on year sales. The festive season is considered a positive period for car manufacturers as car buyers in India consider this period to be auspicious and buy new cars. To cash in on this positive sentiment,, new limited edition variants from Toyota will roll out this October.

Toyota will be launching limited edition models of the Corolla Altis, Etios and the Fortuner premium SUV. All these new variants will have special features wihich will be revealed by the end of October.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor managing Director Hiroshi Nagakawa has stated that the carmaker will be making an official announcement on the launch of the limited edition models between October 15 and 20. He added that the launch of these models were triggered by the positive response Toyota received after launching the limited edition models of the Etios Liva and Innova.

Toyota has launched the Etios Liva Sportivo and the Innova Aero. Toyota is said to have sold close to half of the targeted 1,000 units of the limited edition Etios Liva Sportivos. Coming to the upcoming limited edition models of the Fortuner, Etios and Corolla Altis, Toyota will be building 600 units of the Fortuner, 1,000 units of the Etios and the 400 units of the Corolla Altis.

Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director (Marketing) at Toyota Kirloskar has stated that these new limited edition models will be priced slightly higher than regular models.

Toyota will continue to launch such limited edition models in India even until early 2014. The Japanese carmaker does not have any new car models to be launched and hence the only way it can excite car buyers is through these limited edition models. The closest launch from Toyota will be the next generation Corolla in 2014.
