Netherlands Sees First Tata Nano On Roads

You can see a Tata Nano in Netherlands even before its launch in the country. In fact, Tata has not yet started selling its world cheapest car in Europe. Then what's the story behind this?

This is a clear indication that the Nano small car is gaining some global recognition. An auto enthusiast, Blijdatikrij.nl, who is also an online parts provider; imported, modified and registered the Nano in Netherlands recently.

Blijdatikrij.nl was inspired by the various aspects of Nano such as safety, low running costs and comfortable means of personal transport. He paid €625 to import the Nano to Netherlands and €600 to transform it to make it compilable with the country standards. The car was certified road worthy by the RW (Rijksdienst voor het wegverkeer) which is Netherlands' Automotive Research Board.

The Nano which is the cheapest car in the world is available at a starting price of Rs 1.5 lakhs in India. The Nano has been an ambitious project of Indian auto giant Tata Motors which plans to export the small car to all parts of the world shortly including the United States.
