Tata Motors Ties-up With IME

Tata Motors has entered into a new venture with UK based Institutional of Mechanical Engineers. The new partnership is said to promote professional registration for engineers in India. Tata Motors said in a statement, "This association will also provide opportunities for engineers based in India, to achieve an internationally recognized standard of excellence."

The partnership with Institutional Mechanical Engineers (IME), will foster training and support for Tata Engineers. Tata Motors is looking towards this partnership, and will be looking at many of its engineers, to engage in programmes of continuous professional development.

Additionally, IME will brace Tata Motors, to ensure compliance with UK-SPEC for engineers working towards chartered, incorporated or technician status.

Tata Motors Head - Advanced and Product Engineering, Tim Leverton also commented on this development. He said, "We are delighted that the professional development of Tata Motors Engineers can now be formally accredited under the worldwide recognized framework, offered by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers".

Tata Motors and the institution will also work together to build networks in industry and academia that can contribute to raising the standard of engineering across the sub-continent, he added.

The fact is, India is on an evolving stage and such partnerships, will only bring forth global leaders in manufacturing and international engineering powerhouses.
