Tata Motors May Sales Up 4% Thanks To Nano
The Tata Nano again emerged as one of Tata Motors best selling passenger vehicles. Sales of passenger vehicles for May 2012 are at 20,503 units, a growth of 6% over 19,401 units, sold in May last year. Sales of the Tata Nano were 8,507 units, higher by 31%, compared to 6,515 units, sold in May, last year.
The Indica range sales were 5,467 units, lower by 1%, over 5,497 units, sold in May, last year. The Indigo range recorded sales of 3,397 units, lower by 20%, over 4,268 units, sold in May, last year. The Sumo/ Safari/ Aria/ Venture range are flat at 3,132 units, in this month.
The company's sales of commercial vehicles in May 2012 in the domestic market were 39,625 units, a 7% growth, compared to 37,170 vehicles, sold in May last year. LCV sales were 27,174 units, a growth of 26%, compared to 21,638 vehicles sold in May, last year. M&HCV sales stood at 12,451 units, lower by 20%, compared to 15,532 vehicles sold in May, last year.
Cumulative sales of commercial vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal are 74,272 units, a growth of 1% over last year. Cumulative LCV sales are 51,992 units, a growth of 17% over last year, while M&HCV sales stood at 22,280 units, lower by 24%, over last year.
Cumulative sales of passenger vehicles were 43,161 units, higher by 1%, compared to 42,788 units, till May last year. Cumulative sales of the Nano are flat at 16,535 units Cumulative sales of the Indica range are 12,380 units, higher by 27%. Cumulative sales of the Indigo family are 7,066 units, lower by 26%. Cumulative sales of the Sumo/Safari/ Aria/ Venture range are 7,180 units, higher by 3%.
