Skoda Auto India Hikes Car Prices From August

The decision by Skoda to increase prices is rather surprising because its recent sales growth have not been as good as earlier. With car buyers still worried by high fuel prices and inflation, increasing car prices would not be considered the best decision.
However, Skoda Auto India is definitely under pressure to increase prices partly because the cost of manufacturing has increased due to the decreasing value of the Indian Rupee. To add to this Skoda is also facing the issue of increasing input costs.
The Skoda Fabia is the Czech carmaker's best selling car. It is followed by the Rapid - the Vento based sedan, Laura premium sedan, Yeti Premium SUV and the Superb luxury sedan. With Skoda announcing a price hike, just a week in advance before the new prices will become effective, we do not expect a huge increase in sales before August.
If you want to buy a new Skoda car and are thinking about booking one now to avoid paying a few thousand rupees extra, you are wrong as the price of the car will be decided on the day of delivery and eventually you will be paying the new increased price.
This is the third time Skoda Auto India has increased its prices this year. It had previously increased prices in January and prices were increased again in April following the increased taxes in the 2012 union budget.
