Renault Working On New Small Car Below Rs 4.5L
There is more in stock from Renault. Further expanding its presence in the Indian car market, the French carmaker is looking to launch a new small car in the country. Renault is working on the small car which will be placed in the below Rs 4.5 lakh segment.
The news on the small car was revealed by Renault India manging director Marc Nassif. He was speaking to media on the occasion of launching the Duster SUV in the southern state of Kerala.
Earlier, Renault had said that it will be launching an entry-level sedan in the market before November. Nassif said: "We will be launching a small sedan during Diwali, but we are working on a smaller car now." However, he didn't get into the details of the new model.
Renault had earlier promised to launch five new cars in the country this year. The new compact hatchback would be placed against Ford Figo, Hyundai i10, Maruti Suzuki WagonR, A-star etc. Currently, the carmaker's entry-level hatchback in the country is the Pulse which comes with a price tag of Rs 6 lakh for the base model.
Now, Renault would be able to price its cars competitively as the company has attained a localisation up to 60 per cent. The company, which has been investing heavily in the country, aims to open its 100th outlet by end of 2013.
