Nissan India To Launch 10 New Cars By 2016

Speaking at the launch of the Evalia in Bangalore, Nissan India's marketing director Nitish Tipnis has revealed that the carmaker was planning to launch 10 new cars in India by 2016. He said India has emerged as an important market and Nissan would boost its presence here by launching new cars that will cater to a wide variety of buyers.
Nissan India started its Indian operations by launching the Micra premium hatchback. It followed it up with the Sunny whose success has been well documented. The Evalia is Nissan's third made in India car. Nissan also sells three cars that are imported from Japan - The Teana premium sedan, the X-Trail SUV and the 370Z Sports car.
Nissan's plans to launch 10 new cars by 2016 might also include its low cost brand Datsun. Datsun is an old brand that Nissan has revived just to deliver low cost cars in emerging markets. Nissan has a manufacturing plant in Chennai where is its currently developing new models.
Nissan India is also planning to increase its brand presence in the country by opening more showrooms. The carmaker currently has 75 showrooms which it will increase to 90 by the end of this year. It is also aiming to increase its showrooms to 300 in the next three years.
