Datsun Low Cost Brand To Roll Out 5 Cars
Japanese carmaker Nissan's Datsun brand is reportedly planning to roll out 5 different car models for the Indian market. The Datsun low cost brand was revived by the Japanese car major to sell inexpensive cars in emerging economies such as India, Indonesia and Russia.
Datsun had earlier announced that it will be driving in two small cars - an entry-level sub Rs 3 lakh Maruti Alto, Hyundai Eon competitor and another car to be placed below Nissan's Micra hatchback against Ford Figo, Maruti Suzuki A Star, Ritz. The carmaker is said to be working on the two cars which are slated for 2014 debut.

Datsun product line up will be completely built locally in order to keep costs under control. The low cost cars will be built at Nissan's Chennai plant.
The other cars that are in line from the carmaker could possibly be a compact SUV/MPV, a compact sedan and another sedan. However, there has been no word from Datsun's part about these cars.
Speculations about the compact SUV/MPV and compact sedan are because these segments have beein seeing huge growth in the country recently. The great success of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Renault Duster, Maruti Suzuki Dzire are well enough to back the above statement.
