Datsun Launch In Middle East And Latin America

Nissan, which relaunched its Datsun as a new low cost car brand is planning to boost its presence further by launching it in the Middle East, Africa as well as in Latin America. Revealing these details to the media, Nissan's CEO Carlos Ghosn stated that Datsun will initially concentrate on growth markets such as India, Indonesia and Russia.

Datsun's launch in India is expected in 2014 where it will launch at least two low cost cars. Datsun's launch here will be followed by other countries in 2014. Mr Ghos has stated that the company will look at other markets including the Middle East and latin America in the coming years.

Mr Ghosn has reiterated that Datsun's cars will be affordable to all people and added that quality will not be compromised despite low pricing. Nissan is aiming to increase its global market share and believes the Datsun brand will help it achieve this goal. Nissan is aiming to increase its sales to 8%.

Nissan's Datsun is not a new brand. The brand has been revived after three decades particularly to target growing car markets. Nissan has stated that that Datsun will provide it an opportunity to cater to all car buyers without diluting he Nissan Brand.

Nissan's plans for Datsun particularly spreading to Middle East and Africa is a hug step considering it is also pushing its sales in China, the world's largest car market. Nissan is hoping it will also get a boost from India where its Sunny Sedan has emerged as the best selling C-segment sedan. However it is expecting even higher sales from Datsun in India once it is launched.

India being a predominantly small car driven market and Nissan is keen to take advantage of this.Datsun will be building its cars locally to reduce costs and the first cars are expected to roll out from Nissan's plant in Chennai in 2014.
