Maruti Suzuki has finally launched the much awaited 2012 new Alto 800 hatchback. Maruti has completely re-modelled its best selling hatchback, the alto 800. Currently Maruti sells the Alto in two avatars. One being the 800 Alto and the other the Alto 1000. This new re-modelled Alto 800 will replace the old model Alto 800.

The new Alto 800 is powered by 796cc three-cyclinder 12-valve engine. However, Maruti claims that this small engine is capable of returning best in class fuel efficiency of 22.74 kilometres per litre of petrol, as well as 49 PS (Power) at 6000rpm as compared to the older version which made 47 PS (Power) at 6200rpm. The CNG variant on the other hand returns a best in class fuel efficiency of 30.46 kilometers per kg.
