Mercedes Benz India (MBI) conducted Star Drive Experience in Bangalore on May 12. A first of its kind of programme aiming at more customer interaction, it's is the 3rd time Mercedes organising this event in India (click to know about the event schedule in other cities).
The star drive is a power packed event that puts the prowess of a Mercedes Benz car in to test by experts under controlled environment. Merc admirers can experience the unique features of the cars with simulation of critical road conditions.

Mercedes Star Drive experience in Bangalore saw some of the most exotic machines from its line-up; the SLS 63 AMG & C 63 AMG sports cars, C-Class & E-Class premium sedans and ML-Cass & GL-Class SUVs.
Innovations like PRE-SAFE, Traction Control and ESP, Off-Road Pro Engineering and 4ETS were seen live in action at the programme. The huge GL-Class and ML-Class SUVs proved their off-road abilities by making light work on 40 degree slopes.
On the difficult terrain, the differential lock system of the SUVs comes into play, transferring the weight from the unused wheels to the ones touching the ground, thus maintaining traction. Furthermore, the suspension adjusts seamlessly in order to accommodate the rapidly changing terrain, thanks to the 4-MATIC and AIRMATIC suspension. The incredible control of the Hill Hold Assist also comes into effect helping the car to remain steady for 2.5seconds before rolling back, giving the driver enough time to prepare for the climb.
Likewise, when driving down the slope, the Downhill Speed Regulation allows the driver to set a speed between 4 to 18 kmph depending on the terrain, after which it takes complete charge. The driver has to just maneuver the car, while the function takes care of the rest. The participants can rest assured that with the M-Class and GL-Class no terrain can be unconquerable.
The C & E Class where also put on action at the programme. When sensing a potential accident, the numerous safety activations of the Pre safe system come together. Seats bent into a favourable angle, seat belts tighten, windows and sunroof close automatically and hand restraints position themselves appropriately offering preventive protection. It also demonstrated the revolutionary Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Anti-Lock breaking system that have made Mercedes a top carmaker in safety.
