Maruti Hikes Swift Dzire Price By Up To Rs 12,000

For the second time after its launch, Maruti Suzuki has hiked the price of its highly selling Swift Dzire entry-level sedan's diesel variant by Rs 8,000 – 12,000. Earlier, the carmaker had increased the price of the Dzire after the 2012 Union Budget.

The new Swift Dzire was launched in 2012 at a mouth watering price tag of price of Rs 4.79 lakh for its petrol variant and Rs 5.8 lakh for its diesel variant. However, the automaker had made it clear that those were only introductory prices, a strategic term used by Maruti Suzuki during new product launches in the recent times.

The price hike of the the new Swift Dzire by 2 per cent to 2.4 per cent will come into effect from May 1, 2012. The Swift Dzire is Maruti Suzuki's 3rd highest selling car after the Swift premium hatchback and the Alto small car. The car has been outselling rivals like Toyota Etios, Tata Manza and Mahindra Verito by two or three folds since its arrival.

The Swift Dzire receives a sizable number of bookings a month which is around 15,000 units and the diesel variant accounts to most of it. However, the carmaker has retained the price of the petrol Dzire considering falling sales of petrol cars in the market.
