Maruti Swift, Wagon R Win India Design Mark 2012
This has added another accolade to Maruti Suzuki, the leading carmaker in the country. The India Design Council recognises products that are well designed, trustworthy, reliable, value for money and manufactured in a responsible manner. The council is affiliated with India’s Ministry of Commerce & Industry and comprises of eminent people in academia, design and industry organisations.
The India Design Mark (I-Mark) awards was organised in cooperation with Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JDP). The India Design Mark is a design standard with only the finest designs across industries and categories awarded with the I-mark after multiple levels of diligent evaluation. The I-mark will work as a reference while buying a product, not just in terms of design, but also the overall quality of the product.
Congratulating the design team, Maruti Suzuki Chief Operating Officer (Engineering) IV Rao said: “The India Design Mark certificate to Wagon R and Swift demonstrates high design capabilities of the design teams of Maruti Suzuki India and Suzuki Motor Corporation Japan. It brings out the maturity and evolution in car designing especially after the Swift launch in 2005. We strongly believe that a good design is the first step to customer engagement. Stepping up our efforts, Maruti Suzuki designers are now working on designing global models along with their Japanese counterparts, as part of SMC’s global design team.”
