Maruti Suzuki Downsizes Production Of Petrol Cars

Maruti Suzuki India managing executive officer (marketing & sales) Mayank Pareek said: "Petrol car sales are very low in these days as the market sentiment is down. We do not believe in creating excess stock." Pareek added that the company had also halted production of Alto, Maruti 800, A-Star, Estilo and Omni petrol models for three days to prevent inventories from piling up.
Meanwhile, carmakers are ramping up production of diesel models due to high demand of diesel cars. Most of the diesel cars from Maruti Suzuki including the newly launched Ertiga MPV and the highly selling Swift hot hatch have a waiting period of three to six months.
Leading carmakers like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai Motors and Tata Motors have been offering huge discounts on their petrol cars to attract customer. However, despite all these measures, petrol car sales have not really improved in the market.
