Mahindra Puffs Up Businesses In Srilanka

Mahindra & Mahindra is looking to magnify its area of businesses in Sri Lanka. One of the main reasons being, Sri Lanka is a booming vehicle export market for the group. Soon the Lankans, would get Mahindra two-wheelers and aviation segments.

The two-wheelers are expected to launch by the end of this year. The brand building exercise, kick-started during the first edition of the Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL), where Mahindra was the title sponsor.

Sri Lanka would first receive Mahindra scooters, followed by its motorcycles. Ideal Group, Mahindra's partner is Sri Lanka, would be responsible to sell the two-wheelers. All the two-wheelers will be imported from India to Sri Lanka, which at present is the company's largest export market.

With regards to Mahindra's association with SLPL in future, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) President (Group Strategy) and Chief Brand Officer S P Shukla said: "We cannot talk about contractual terms. Our sponsorship of the SLPL signals our intent to both expand and deepen our relationship with the country as it moves steadily towards greater economic progress."
